The Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator (MBTI™) is a powerful tool for helping people enhance their understanding of both themselves and others.
It shows how we interact with and view the world and paints a broad picture of a person’s orientation to life, strengths and characteristics. It looks at four sets of opposing preferences, each representing a different aspect of personality. From these preferences the MBTI™ maps out sixteen personality types each having a four letter acronym. Within this basic framework it recognises uniqueness, diversity and individuality.
The MBTI™ was developed by Isabel Briggs Myers and her mother Katharine Briggs in the early 1940’s and is based on the work of Carl Jung.
Phil Yates of Coachwise is accredited to work with MBTI™ and he incorporates it into many workshops though it is especially relevant and useful within one to one coaching, team-building & team-working, leadership, influencing and negotiation skills.
Knowing your personality type helps you understand yourself more clearly and with this knowledge you will be better able to understand relationships you have with others, why you approach things in the way that you do and develop strategies which influence and have a positive impact on people. MBTI™ also offers a description of how you function best which you are then able to consider and refine for yourself. This will enable you to build a clearer picture of who you are, which will benefit both your personal and professional life.
What people say
“I would just like to say a very big thank you for the excellent MBTI workshop you recently delivered to the members of our sales team. They were especially complimentary not only about the way the course was delivered but by how much they each individually gained from it.”
